Alamosa Park Family Letter - 02/10/2021

2/10/2021
02/10/21

Dear Alamosa Park Families,

Thank you to all virtual- and classic-enrolled families, teachers, and support staff for your continuous support of Alamosa Park students! In this Family Letter is the following:
  • Congratulations Mr. Nick Henry, Alamosa Park Plant Lead – VUSD Golden Apple Award – Classified Employee of the Year!
  • Alamosa Park Education Foundation's (APEF) Request for Student Photos for the 2020-21 Alamosa Park Yearbook
  • Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten Registration for the 2021-22 School Year
  • Community Update (02/09/21) from our VUSD Superintendent, Dr. Doyle – including the Consolidation Task Force Survey
  • President’s Day Weekend – No School on Friday, 02/12/21 & Monday, 02/15/21 – Happy Valentine’s Day (Sunday, 02/14/21)!

Congratulations Mr. Nick Henry, VUSD Golden Apple Award – Classified Employee of the Year

Every school year, VUSD employees are recognized for excellence. This year VUSD and Alamosa Park are recognizing Mr. Nick Henry, Alamosa Park Plant Lead, as the Golden Apple Award, Classified Employee of the Year.
Mr. Henry has been the plant lead since Alamosa Park opened the doors for students in 1987. Mr. Henry exemplifies leadership with his visibility, supervisory skills, and communication. Mr. Henry is highly visible across campus and takes great pride in keeping Alamosa Park in pristine condition. Mr. Henry can be located at any time during the day reaching out to students, teachers, and community to provide support. Mr. Henry communicates that nothing less than a clean school environment is acceptable. Mr. Henry pays keen attention to detail because he wants to ensure that students feel comfortable when they walk on to campus so that learning is the priority.
The leadership through visibility, supervisory skills, and respectful communication that Mr. Henry demonstrates every day is truly admirable. Mr. Henry exemplifies these skills, carries a strong work ethic, and makes Alamosa Park shine with his expectations and attention to detail. Alamosa Park is most fortunate to have a great Plant Lead like Mr. Henry.
Mr. Henry does not need to be reminded to carry out the day-to-day maintenance nor does he need to be reminded of special requests. Not only does he handle the request; he follows through by making sure the job was done correctly. Trust and communication are closely related. Through his communication with staff and by following through on requests, Mr. Henry communicates his trust through these daily interactions and taking responsibility.
Mr. Henry exhibits respect through his interactions. When disinfecting campus, he pays special attention to detail to make sure that lunch tables, bathrooms, classrooms, and high touch surface areas are clean, every day. His respect toward others is also illustrated when knowing that there is not job too small for Mr. Henry to handle. Through high expectations, courtesy, follow through, and pride, Mr. Henry communicates respect through his positive actions.
I am honored to recognize Mr. Nick Henry as the VUSD Golden Apple Award recipient and VUSD Classified Employee of the Year!

Park Education Foundation (APEF) Request for Student Photos for the 2020-21 Alamosa Park Yearbook (Alamosa Park Yearbook email address:
[email protected])
I would like to publicly thank the APEF and parent leaders, Mrs. Sonia Rodriguez, Mrs. Amber Carreno, and Mrs. Maria "Mo" Barongan for their hard work and leadership to coordinate and develop the 2020-21 Alamosa Park Yearbook. APEF is requesting your help to submit student pictures to be considered for publication in the yearbook.
APEF is requesting photos of students learning virtually, being a healthy hawk (participating in fun outdoor activities), Spirit Day photos, or photos of students reading or completing homework. With your picture submission to the email address below, please include student name, teacher, and grade level.
Alamosa Park Yearbook email address:  [email protected]
APEF is not able to guarantee that all photo submissions will be published in the yearbook but it would be helpful to have students from every class added in the fun sections APEF has created for the yearbook. Many of our wonderful parents have been contributing to pictures and its appreciated a great deal. APEF would like to receive more student photos from those families who have not yet submitted pictures or are not on social media.
APEF appreciates you for kindly for taking the time in reading this email and for your consideration. APEF is working hard to create a fun and memorable yearbook for our Hawk students.
