11/29/2020
11/29/20

Dear Alamosa Park Families,

I hope you and your family enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving and Fall Break!

The purpose of this email is to notify parents and families about:
  • A friendly reminder about the travel advisory in California - Classic-enrolled students who traveled outside of California during the Thanksgiving break should please remain home for 14 days after return date from out of state travel
  • New COVID-19 Testing Center in Vista – Open 7 Days per week, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Student Picture Days: Thursday, 12/03 for Classic-enrolled students & Friday, 12/04 for Virtual-enrolled students.
  • Virtual Parent Conferences, which will be scheduled by your child’s teacher, during a dedicated time on Tuesday, December 8 – Friday, December 11 (Early Dismissal Days will be in place for the entire week of December 7).

California Travel Advisory – Reminder for Classic-enrolled students who traveled outside of California to remain home 14 days after travel
As described in the most recent, 11/24/20, Community Update, you may know that there is a travel advisory in effect in California right now.
The Community Update states the following:
In response to the rapidly growing number of cases, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have issued a number of important advisories. The CDC is advising against travel for most people during the Thanksgiving holiday and the CDPH has advised that:
Persons arriving in California from other states or Californians returning from other states or countries could increase the risk of COVID-19 spread. In addition, travel itself can be a risk for exposure to COVID-19, particularly travel through shared conveyance such as air, bus or rail travel.  Persons arriving in California from other states or countries, including returning California residents, should practice self-quarantine for 14 days after arrival. These persons should limit their interactions to their immediate household.
Friendly Reminder (Travel Advisory): If your children traveled outside of California during the Thanksgiving break, I ask that you follow this guidance and keep your children at home from school for 14 days following your return to California. Please note that this guidance does NOT apply to travel within California. If your children did travel outside California during the Thanksgiving break, I request that you please call the Alamosa Park front office at (760) 940-0700 to report your child’s absence.

Classic-enrolled students resume in-person learning at Alamosa Park tomorrow, 11/30/20: I would like to remind our community that Alamosa Park and all elementary schools will continue with Classic students on campus tomorrow, Monday, November 30. Alamosa Park Virtual-enrolled students will continue with Virtual learning tomorrow, Monday, November 30 as well. Starting tomorrow, November 30, all VUSD secondary schools (middle and high schools) are pivoting to virtual instruction until after the winter break. Thank you very much for your continuous support.

New COVID-19 testing center in Vista – Linda Rhoades Recreation Center - 600 North Santa Fe Avenue – Open Seven Days per week, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
VUSD has successfully launched the opening of a new COVID-19 testing center in Vista at the Linda Rhoades Recreation Center located at 600 North Santa Fe Avenue. The center is open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., free, and no appointment necessary. They have a great team of security staff to ensure your safety while at the center. As Dr. Doyle has communicated in the 11/17/20 Community Update, our community leaders have demonstrated their commitment to robust collaboration to make this happen; it is now our responsibility as members of the community to do our part to collaborate on the use of the testing center. I would like to encourage our community to visit the Vista COVID-19 testing center at Linda Rhoades Recreation Center to receive testing for your family. I appreciate your consideration.

Student Picture Days: Thursday, 12/03 for Classic-enrolled students & Friday, 12/04 for Virtual-enrolled students.
  • Picture Day Schedule: Click HERE for the date and time for student pictures for your child's class - please .
  • Parking Note for Virtual Families (Click HERE): In an effort to keep our social distancing measures in place, we kindly ask that you arrive at your scheduled class time. Please park in a guest parking and wait in your vehicle until your class scheduled time is open. We will check temperatures prior to entering the side gate, closest to the park. Only one parent per student will be allowed on campus during their scheduled time. Thank you in advance for your support!
Virtual and Classic Parents and families can order and purchase pictures two ways:
Option (1): Use the envelope that will be sent home (envelope is also available in front office) with your child to order and purchase pictures with check made out to "Mike Shriver Photography".
Option (2): Parents may order online following the steps below:
  • 1. Go to www.mikeshriverphotography.com
  • 2. Click on "order/proofs"
  • 3. Follow online instructions
  • 4. Save order # for future reference
  • Parents may come to front office during the week of November 30, or when they are on campus on Friday, December 4th, to pick up an order form and fill it out with photographers.
  • Write order # provided online on the order form
Unfortunately, this school year we will not be having group pictures - composite and individual pictures only. Thank you for your consideration of your child attending school pictures at the scheduled day and time.

Alamosa Park Virtual Parent Conferences; Tuesday – Friday, December 8 – 11
  • Early Dismissal days will be in place for the week of December 7 to allow for Parent Conference meetings.
  • We would appreciate your every effort to share this conference opportunity with your child’s teacher. Parent-teacher conferencing is a time to share information and to exchange ideas and values important to child, parent and teacher.
  • How will I receive my child's Trimester 1 Progress Report?: Parents will receive the Trimester 1 Progress Report either in the regular U.S. mail, the Progress Report will be sent home with their child, or the teacher will share the progress report during the scheduled parent conference and send home in the mail after the conference.
  • Thank you for your support and attendance at the Parent Conference.

Please feel free to contact me at any time for any questions (760-940-0700 x49001).
Thank you for your continued support of your student at Alamosa Park Elementary School. Hawk students, keep "Going for the Gold" and Go Hawks!

Sincerely,
Principal Ruggles
