Alamosa Park Family Letter - 12/04/2020

12/4/2020
12/07/20

Dear Alamosa Park Families,

Thank you to all of our parents, families, students, and staff for your work and support of student pictures days. The picture days ran very smoothly because everyone following the protocols and directions from staff. Thank you for your support!

The purpose of this email is to:
  • Remind parents and families of Virtual Parent Conferences, which are set for Tuesday, December 8 – Friday, December 11 (Early Dismissal Days will be in place for the entire week of December 7)
  • Remind students and families about the APEF Winter Spirit Days & Gratitude Wall
  • Share the latest Community Update from VUSD Superintendent, Dr. Doyle

First, you may have heard about the CA Stay at Home order that could be issued by Governor Newsom within the coming days. I have received some questions regarding what impact, if any, it will have at Alamosa Park. The Regional Stay at Home Order document from the CA Department of Public Health (click HERE) states that, “schools that have previously reopened for in-person instruction may remain open”. As a result, Alamosa Park will continue to provide both in-person and virtual learning models at this time. Thank you for your support of your student at Alamosa Park!

Superintendent's Council for Equity and Anti-Racism -- First Virtual Community Forum is next Thursday, December 10, 2020, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Zoom
The Superintendent’s Council for Equity and Anti-Racism is a group of parents, students, teachers, staff, administration, community members, and board members who meet monthly with a focus on supporting systems and practices that reflect the district’s commitment to equity and anti-racism.  In our meetings this year, we are discussing professional development opportunities, as well as reviewing our discipline and grading policies through an equity lens.  An important part of the structure of the Superintendent’s Council is to get feedback from our community.  This feedback, as well as data, surveys, and information from a global and national perspective informs the equity and anti-racism recommendations that we provide to the superintendent.  Please join us on Thursday, December 10, from 5:00-6:00pm for our first Equity and Anti-Racism Virtual Community Forum.  You can access the meeting by using the following Zoom Link.

Please feel free to contact me at any time for any questions (760-940-0700 x49001).
Thank you for your continued support of your student at Alamosa Park Elementary School. Students, please continue "Going for the Gold" and Go Hawks!
