Thanks for your support! Black History Month At Alamosa Park, many of our students have been engaged in learning more about African American history and the accomplishments of African American leaders. Different grade levels have provided students the chance to learned how Civil Rights has shaped our culture by examining the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks; they have studied and presented information about influential African Americans such as Harriet Tubman, Oprah Winfrey, Muhammed Ali, Barack Obama, Amanda Gorman, and Jackie Robinson; and engaged in dialogue about African American history as part of our curriculum. As we celebrate Black History Month, my hope is that we continue to celebrate and learn more about the contributions of African Americans as well as all leaders and influencers, regardless of ethnicity, all year. Thank you for the work of our teachers and our students’ work in learning more about the contributions of African American’s leaders from our past and present who have made and continue to make a positive difference across America. Read Across America Day - Dr. Seuss Day (Tuesday, March 2, 2021) On Tuesday, March 2, to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss, students are invited to dress-up as their favorite story book character. Virtual and Classic students will be exposed to various fun reading activities in class as well. I am planning on making appearances in classes to read fun stories to students as well.
