Dear Alamosa Park Families,

Thank you to all virtual- and classic-enrolled families, teachers, and support staff for your continuous support of Alamosa Park students! In this AP Family Letter is the following:

Thank you PTA & AP Foundation - Great Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week (Week of May 3 – 7)
PTA - Thank you to our fantastic AP PTA for your extra hard work in supporting our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. Our PTA recognized staff every day this week and decorating the front area with signs, created by PTA, Foundation, and the 5th grade student council / Hawk Club.

Friday, May 7: “Our Futures are BRIGHT Because of You!” 

• Students wear bright colors 
• Staff will have individually wrapped/pre-packaged snacks set up in the break room at 12:00 p.m.

APEF – Thank you for the generous, personalized gift baskets filled with treats and care package items. It was so very thoughtful of APEF to recognize all teachers and support staff with baskets and specialized card!

2021-22 Hawk Club Applications
Alamosa Park Elementary School is offering the After School Education and Safety (ASES) Grant Program (Hawk Club), which is a cost-free grant program providing homework assistance, tutorials, and enrichment activities for your child. The grant program will begin on the first day of school (Wednesday, August 18) and will continue through the end of the school year. 
The ASES grant is based on student attendance. To accomplish grant goals participating students are expected to attend the full duration of the program hours (school dismissal until 6:00 PM). Enrollment in the grant program comes with the understanding that your child(ren) will attend every school day.
Acceptance does not operate on a first-come-first-serve basis; instead, enrollment is decided based upon student need (if there are not enough spots in the program for all applicants). Families will be notified of their acceptance in August.

Virtual Open House – Thursday, June 10, 6:00 p.m.

• This year, instead of having Open House in-person, our students and teachers will be creating a brief project with information to share with our parents.
• All Alamosa Park teachers will be sending Open House project information to their parents and families on Thursday, June 10, between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m.
• I am looking forward to parents and students virtually attending Open House this year.
• Thank you to all of our teachers and students for their hard work in the design of Open House this year.

Upcoming Events & Dates to Know:

• Thursday, May 6 – National Nurses Day
  • Thank you to our new school nurse, Mrs. Amy McGuire, RN. Mrs. McGuire does an excellent job on working with our students to make sure that we sustain health at all times while following up with families about all health guidelines. Hats off to Mrs. McGuire for all of your support at Alamosa Park!
  • Also, thank you to our former school nurse, Mrs. Lisa Roundtree, RN, who was our school nurse last year and many years before. Mrs. Roundtree is now the VUSD District nurse, helping all of our VUSD schools. A big thank you to Mrs. Roundtree for helping everyone at Alamosa Park and in VUSD!
• Friday, May 21 – Sharing Time Capsule artifacts with all students (Time capsule will be secured over summer)
• Monday, May 31 - Memorial Day - no school
• Thursday, June 10 - Virtual Open House – Teachers will be sending Open House project information to their families between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, June 16, 8:30 a.m. - 5th Grade in-person Promotion
• Friday, June 18 - Final Day of School (Minimum Day)
• Wednesday, August 18 - First Day of the 2021-22 School Year
