Alamosa Park Family Letter - 01/28/2021

2/1/2021
01/28/21

Dear Alamosa Park Families,

Thank you to all of our virtual- and classic-enrolled students, families, teachers, and support staff for demonstrating Kindness and School Spirit all week -- Kindness Counts and Kindness Matters for everyone.
In this Family Letter is the following:
  • Rainy Day Early Dismissal Schedule for tomorrow, Friday, January 29 – I appreciate the  support from our community with regard to the Early Dismissal Rainy Day Schedule that was in place for today and also in place for tomorrow January 29. Please remember that tomorrow, Friday, January 29, we are on another Rainy Day Early Dismissal Schedule, the exact same schedule we had today.
  • Alamosa Park PTA – Thank you for sponsoring Great Kindness Challenge with Kindness signs & Gift Packages for staff.
  • New Grade 4 / 5 Combination Teacher – Mrs. Alida Gonzalez – assigned to teach grades 4 and 5 to reduce class sizes from 34 to 26 so that we can abide by the CDPH Guidelines which require at least 4 feet of distance between students inside the classroom.
  • The Alamosa Park School Accountability Report Card (SARC)

Rainy Day Early Dismissal Schedule - Please click
HERE  - Tomorrow, Friday, January 29
  • Please notice that during recess time, students will have the opportunity to eat their snack or free Alamosa Park breakfast in the covered lunch area & Multi-Purpose Room. Of course, students will remain distanced and the number of students at recess at any one time has been reduced for rainy days.
  • The Alamosa Park AM / PM Program and Hawk Club will be canceled during the Rainy Day Early Dismissal Schedule. Your support in picking up your child up on time is greatly appreciated.
  • Please see the Alamosa Park Rainy Day Early Dismissal Times below:

Alamosa Park PTA – Thank you for the Kindness signs & Gift Packages: I would like to publicly thank our PTA for creating and posting Kindness signs in the parking lot cage area. Our PTA also created signs for me to post throughout school grounds to help our school community celebrate the Great Kindness Challenge and donated a fantastic, generous “Kind is Cool” care package with snacks for every staff member. I plan to keep the signs posted around campus to help remind me, students, and staff that Kindness matters. On behalf of the AP Team, I thank PTA and our community for the great support.

New Grade 4 / 5 Combination Teacher – Mrs. Alida Gonzalez: I am very proud to welcome Mrs. Alida Gonzalez to the Alamosa Park teaching staff. Mrs. Gonzalez is an effective and experienced teacher who has held teaching positions in VUSD and other school districts. Most recently, Mrs. Gonzalez has been assisting students in our Grade TK – 2 students with small group instruction and our Dual Language Immersion classes with Spanish language.
  • Mrs. Gonzalez has been assigned by VUSD to help reduce class size to 26 or 27 students in every Grade 4 and 5 classic classroom which will increase social distancing inside the Grade 4 and 5 classrooms so that we can abide by the CDPH guidelines which calls for a minimum of 4 feet between students in the classroom.
  • Mrs. Gonzalez will be teaching Grade 4 and 5 students in a Grade 4 & 5 combination class with students from Mrs. Fels, Mrs. Perkins / Manwaring, and Mrs. Olsen’s classes.
  • While classroom moves at any time in the school year is not optimal, I am most confident that with Mrs. Gonzalez and the combined efforts of our Grade 4 and 5 teams, it will be a smooth transition for the students.
  • I am very pleased that an effective teacher like Mrs. Gonzalez is their new teacher. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Gonzalez to Alamosa Park.

Alamosa Park School Accountability Report Card (SARC):
Each school year, as Principal, I am required to notify all families about the availability of the Alamosa Park, School Accountability Report Card (or SARC). The Alamosa park SARC describes the excellent school we have at Alamosa Park, the school vision, mission, and many aspects that describe how Alamosa Park is a great and safe place to learn. Families can access the SARC for all VUSD schools by visiting THIS link and access the Alamosa Park SARC by clicking THIS link.

Please feel free to contact me at any time for any questions (760-940-0700 x49001).
Thank you for your continued support of your student at Alamosa Park Elementary School. Students, please continue "Going for the Gold" and Go Hawks!

Sincerely,
Principal Ruggles
